Those of you that have gone from Windows/Linux to Mac, how long did it take for you to gain "new" muscle memory of keys and their "new" position when programming? Did you change any key bindings? I'm afraid of losing my current "productivity" by getting a Mac

It's now been a number of years since I went from Windows to fulltime Mac, but it has boosted my productivity without question. Raycast, the Apple ecosystem integration, Herd, and a keyboard with custom mappings + layers is bliss. For actual coding, I don't think it matters. Get good at Vim motions (or whatever shortcuts your IDE of choice uses) and the OS is a mute concern for text editing and file nav.

Its not so much the OS. Its exactly about the shortcuts and key bindings 🙂

I've used Ubuntu as my primary OS for 25 years. I can have it reinstalled and ready to program in about 30 minutes compared to windows. It supports PHP by only 2 commands and is much faster even on older machines. The commands are basically the same especially if you use something like VS Code.
