I am 25 years old and have been coding for a decade and a half. Watching technology evolve and seeing how much better the developer experience has become is really satisfying. Many technology pioneers and language creators are still with us, even the inventor of the internet is alive. While I find all these advancements exciting, I can only imagine how they feel. Imagine walking down the street looking around, knowing that billions of people’s lives literally depend on what you created. Innovators like Bjarne Stroustrup, Linus Torvalds, Rasmus Lerdorf, Brendan Eich, Guido van Rossum, and many others have built the foundations of our digital world. The impact of their work must be both amazing and humbling. At the same time, this reminds us that we are still just starting out. Even with all the progress we’ve made, it feels like we’re only beginning to walk. Technology has just started to crawl, and we are lucky to see its first steps.
