I'm anxiously awaiting the delivery truck for my first "not original" set of Cherry MX switches for my ZSA Moonlander... Now that I'm sharing my office with my wife I'm trying out the Speed Silver switches vs my Browns....
Am I becoming a keyboard person? Oh Uh.
<glances over the edge of this slippery slope>
Would love a quick recording to check the sound difference once you get them installed!
Since I can't post audio on Pinkary, I put it here: peter.coffee/mx-brown-vs-mx-speed-silver
I'd say the bigger difference is the feel, not the sound.
MX Brown: Tactile
- 55 cN operating force
- 2.0 mm pre travel
- 4.0 mm total travel
MX Speed Silver: Linear Speed
- 45 cN operating force
- 1.2 mm pre travel
- 3.4 mm total travel
Thank you for the recording Peter, I'm also using a Moonlander in a shared space ;) As you said it doesn't seem to reduce noise that much, how do you like typing with the Speed Silver compared to the Brown ?
The difference is really subtle but I like the "less force" to type feeling.
If you're wanting to diver deeper into the switches here's two podcast episodes (of course I would 🙈) about each:
