Thinking about a new @pinkary feature for everyone... the ability to "tune" the algorithm used for one of the Feeds. The idea is to let users control the impact of each metric that goes into the query (with reasonable defaults, of course). Want to prioritize posts with comments over those with high view counts? Maybe you want to control how much the "time since posted" impacts the results?

What do we think? Yay or nay?

Sorry, but I'm definitely saying no to this one. I quite like the way my feed is, and this may negatively impact interaction.

Thanks for the feedback. 👍

If we move forward with this idea, it's likely that your feed would remain as it is currently, as that's simply the default metric weighting. Things would only change if you decided to modify the weightings for a customized feed experience.

But it would change the behavior of the feed for the people who use it, which could negatively impact the interactions I mentioned earlier. It's not just what I see on my screen; it's also what others see on theirs.

Interesting idea. I don't think a lot of people would change the defaults, though.

I will say yes. Just giving the option to tune the feed (even if it is limited and nobody uses it) says a lot of what are the goals you are aiming for. To demonstrate you can fix what the other social networks do: showing you only "tailored" content and leave you blind from what is beyond your niche. Yes, I dig the idea 👏🏻
